Tried combining tool with the act of incising - inscribed - visual language (referencing runes and scrimshaw). Shortened and thickened the ‘spike form’ which resembles a small menhir or alternatively a stone hand axe (although made of wood). I used oak as it is a hardwood. Cut and inset other pieces of wood into the surface and inscribed knife cuts. Used a piercing motion and then used polyfilla to backfill then sand flush. Rubbed oil and ink onto the surface to extenuate the cuts then alternately re-sanded and oiled.
